Callum Ilott returns to the car in Austria practice

Callum Ilott, Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN’s additional reserve driver, will make his second FP1 appearance of the season during the first practice session at the Austrian Grand Prix, the tail part of the double-header of consecutive race weekends at the Red Bull Ring.

The Briton, who made his FP1 debut earlier this season with a good performance at the Portuguese Grand Prix, will be able to benefit from all the data and set-up information collected in the previous week of action at the Austrian track to make the most of his 60 minutes in the car, as he helps the team prepare for the race.

Callum will drive Antonio Giovinazzi’s car, before the Italian returns to the cockpit for the remainder of the weekend.

Frédéric Vasseur, Team Principal Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN and CEO Sauber Motorsport AG: “The way Callum has integrated with the team in a relatively short amount of time is remarkable, and to see him in the car with a solid set-up base from the previous week will be interesting. He’s done a good job in Portugal and the data he provided us with was really useful, so we are looking forward to another productive session together.”

Callum Ilott, Reserve Driver Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN: “The second FP1 of my season will be a good chance to help the team and build on the good job we did together in Portugal earlier this year. Knowing the car and the team already will definitely help me get to work straight away and having the data from the first week of running means we will have a solid base to start with. I am looking forward to making the most of this opportunity as the team keeps getting stronger.”
