Charged up: ABB powers Sauber’s electric mobility commitment
The Sauber Group took another decisive step in its commitment to sustainability as three state-of-the-art electric vehicle charging stations for e-cars are built at the company’s Hinwil HQ as part of Sauber Engineering’s partnership with ABB.
ABB, Sauber Engineering’s Official Global Technology Partner, installed a new EV fast-charging station, the latest technology available on the market, which will now be available to the growing number of electric vehicle users among the Sauber Group workforce. The fast-charging station will be flanked by two traditional EV charging station, as the company continues to promote e-mobility and carbon-neutral development projects: all three stations will work alongside the photovoltaic field already installed over the Sauber headquarters’ parking lot – currently one of the largest in Switzerland.
Sauber Group’s partnership with ABB and its efforts to promote carbon-neutral means of transportation and energy generation also fit within a wider sustainability strategy, as well as Formula One’s and the FIA’s strategies for a better, greener future.
Robert Itschner, Country Managing Director, ABB Switzerland: “It is an essential part of ABB’s long-term sustainability targets to support our partners and customers in reducing CO2 emissions, be it in mobility, industry or infrastructure. We are excited to partner with Sauber Engineering, which gives two iconic Swiss brands the opportunity to share their world-class technologies for an emission-free future.“
Frédéric Vasseur, CEO Sauber Group AG: “We are excited about this first milestone in our partnership with ABB. We are taking our commitment to sustainability very seriously and we are delighted to offer our staff the opportunity to use these state-of-the-art charging station: electric vehicles with no emissions are one of the ways to make our planet greener, especially when using solar energy generated directly on site.”
