F1 Academy Round 4 – Montreal

18.06.2025

Hinwil, 18 June 2025 – KICK Sauber F1 Team driver, Emma Felbermayr, claimed her maiden F1 Academy victory at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. In a competitive weekend that featured a third race added to the schedule – making up for the rain-affected, postponed second race in Miami – the young Austrian showed her growing confidence and race craft.

In Race 1, Emma made a strong start from eighth on the grid, gaining positions as incidents unfolded ahead of her. Holding firm in third place through two Safety Car periods, she crossed the line to secure her first podium in the series but, in an unfortunate twist of fate, was later disqualified after her car was found to be below the minimum weight.

Later on Saturday, Emma showed incredible maturity and mental strength as she turned the disappointment from Race 1 into motivation: a confident launch from third on the grid saw her hold position ahead of teammate, Ella Lloyd, and Tina Hausmann, moving up to second and quickly closing the gap to race leader, Nina Gademan. A late Safety Car led to a one-lap sprint to the finish line and, seizing the moment, Emma decisively overtook the Alpine driver to claim her maiden win in the series.

Emma continued her progress in Race 3, moving up the grid before being spun following contact with Gademan at Turn 10 and dropping to the back. She did manage to recover positions and was ultimately promoted to tenth place following Gademan’s post-race penalty.

After a mid-season break, during which Emma will be competing in the Spanish F4 Championship with Rodin as part of her racing programme, F1 Academy will return for Round 5 in Zandvoort at the end of August.

“This weekend was really special for me. Even though I was disqualified from Race 1, I didn’t let it get to me and stayed focused. Bouncing back to take my first F1 Academy win in Race 2 was an amazing feeling and a huge confidence boost – it was great to see the team cheering me on from the podium. Race 3 was a bit tough, but I kept pushing hard and learned a lot from the experience. Overall, I am happy with how the weekend went. I am proud of how far we have come in these first four rounds, and excited to keep building on this momentum for the remainder of the season from Zandvoort on.”
